Man does the bike look odd with the fairings and tank removed. How long are you expecting it to take to install the new mods? Hopefully we get the chance to see a bit of the process.
Thanks for posting the pictures. Man that thing really looks like a MotoGP bike with the tank and fairings off. A lot going on.
Looks like one of those cafe racers without its fairings, all wiring with the mechanical parts on display. How do you keep track of where everything goes for later re-installation?
keeping track

Just been around eng all my life so its normal to strip n know how it all goes back, however these days when I leave the w/shop I leave notes with black marker on the steel bench to remind me where I left off or I leave a spanner/socket on the bolt I was working on when I finished up. Spark plugs are a 12 point 12mm had to weld an old ring spanner end to a s/steel tube then linish it down so it would fit the access hole id say .5mm wall thickness was what the ring end was when id finished. $120 for the tool ex Italy for me $10 and done today! .Fitted a booster plug today better fueling down low, well on the work stand as its not ready for track yet plus its snowed yesterday!!! Hope you all getting some usefull info here as I'm paying back for the years of taking from others
Beaker
ill post some pics of what ive done tomorrow
You can always try uploading the video directly to youtube from your phone which from my experience has always been a simple and straight forward process ;)

race upgrades Part 1

So here are items so far
Rad guard made in house
Faring,instrument brkt made in hse
Rearset rh plus muffler n new mid pipes all but muffler made in hse
Rearset lh same as above
Brkt for the traction control had to be on the same plane as std due to level sensors
Reservoirs moved inboard
Quick change sprocket carrier and custom gearing 15/39
H20 sensor for digital temp guage as bar graph isn't practicle for racing
Booster plug install till ecu gets unlocked by ouside parties
Fans and metal heat shields removed and headers wrapped

race upgrades Part 2

BST wheels seen on other picts these others are of the bike stripped which I thought you might enjoy, the one with the tank suspended allows the running of the bike with it removed extended wiring for the pump plus checking fuel pressure hence the guage. Any questions ask away, in the past ive used these forums for info so im trying to give some back, sorry some photos went sideways!
cheers Beaker

It started out as an oil change and then .....

.... I thought, I'm gonna get rid of those cheap plastic head covers.

need help re coolant

can some one open there radiator cap make sure bike is cold and check level preferably fill to neck , then run bike till 4 bars on graph or when fans kick in then let cool and check n see if any level change, mine is loosing small amounts but it should have burped by now, from when I drained the coolant for racing (glycol) banned tooooo slippery!. I may have a blown headgasket and it hasn't seen the track yet.
Interesting question.

When I pulled mine apart for the oil change there was nothing in the right or left reservoirs.

I removed the left hand reservoir and topped the right reservoir to the "cold" line.

I then ran it for a bit after the oil change and the coolant in the reservoir disappeared.

Dunno what's going on here. 🤔

Well im doing more tests I ran the bike last night coolant to max on reservoir only one on mine so far, then fill rad to top of neck then ran to 100deg c, left over night and all the coolant from reservoir gone .So now I refilled to reservoir to max line and repeated the same up to 100 deg and saw the coolant move up in the reservoir y 1/4 in or 6mm for us kiwis and watched it and at 34deg some had been sucked back may be 1/8 3.2mm
now ill check tomorrow morning when it dead cold then repeat this all over again to prove it is consistant. Fyi my coolant was gone and also down in the radiator when I pulled mine apart after its running in miles/kms. Ill keep ya in the loop mate:wink:
@Beaker

Yeah, that's about what I saw too.

FYI, we Canadians are on metric system also and have been for donkey's years. 😉
So what is involved to check the coolant level and add coolant. I can barely see the reservoir through the right side fairing, but cannot see the level.
Yer not gonna like this, but, ..... ya gotta take all the right side fairings off.

Right you are. I don't like that. But thanks for the info. Ducati sure packaged this bike pretty compact. Makes for a great motorcycle, but seems more involved to work on. I am still very much in the stare at the bike and wonder where stuff is phase. The owners manual is not that helpful for a lot of stuff.

Sweet mate, well that last test, the coolant returned to the line it started on so I did another tonight consistency is what im after. It amazes me how coolant flows back from the tank to rad below 34deg c the cap must have a wax type plunger as it cant be pressure surely ! more investigation on my part into the operation of that cap:angel:

FYI it only took two tries (coolant additions) to get mine to behave consistantly.

We'll be on the track with my V4S and my 1199S on July 8th.

Gonna be interesting to run the two together.

Video coverage of the V4S being tracked would be great :D
