Quick shifter issues

Anyone have any issues with the quickshifter not working up/down? So I picked up my S last Friday and the next day I went to the canyon everything was working great but as I was heading home I noticed the quick shifter would not work up or down. It’s currently set to on up/down. I pulled over and got gas and let the bike cool down and when I took off it was working fine. Bike sat until Wednesday and I went out and everything was fine but about 10 miles into riding the same thing happened but the throttle also cut out momentarily and when it came back almost bucked me off the bike. It will be on its way back to the dealer on Saturday morning to pull the diagnostic to see what’s up:sad:

Sorry to hear that you're already having some issues with the new bike. Don't think there have been any other reports of quick shifting issues. Odd that it only seems to present itself once you've been riding for awhile. Hopefully the dealer can replicate it.

Actually the DQS has been another big problem and a potentially dangerous one. If you go to other forums, ducatiforum.com/ducati-v4/, you'll see there is an entire thread on this issue. It's not a full blown recall but many people have been having this issue with multiple repairs. Add it to the list....

Ok I will check it out, yea it scared the **** out of me because the power cut and came back on so hard!
A little surprised with the number of complains we've seen around this that Ducati hasn't issued some sort of fix for it yet. As you've demonstrated this kind of issue can be quite dangerous.

I have the same isssue after 15-20 riding the Quickshifter quits warming and once bike is off for 10-15 min it starts working again until the next 15-20 min ride.. It has been in the shop since last Tue and they still don’t have a remedy for it.. dealership is waiting on the next steps from Ducati. This has a smell of another recall. Not a happy customer here for sure..
So don't take it out for any longer rides until they indicate a proper fix. I know that's not what you want to hear with a brand new bike, but its better than risking your safety.
I would disable the QS until there has been a fix for it, its super nice to have the QS but its not a must have, I am sure the V4 will still be plenty of fun to ride without the QS while its being sorted out.
The problem in my case when the qiuckshifter stops working all riding modes would also start flashing as well as DTC and ABS. I would rather keep it there than have some sort of mishap with electronics while riding/tracking.. It has been in the workshop since the June 4th and they still do not know a root cause. I am loosing my patience, not a happy camper here.

Have had my V4s for two weeks and sales guy said there were no recalls for that bike prior to setup. So far the QS is working fine but only a few hundred miles on the bike.

Mine started having problems right after the 1st 600 MI service when they fixed the two recalls that required ECU flash for heating issue. I have put about 1100 mil on mine so far.

lol well definitely sounds like issue is somewhere there and not w/ the stock qs... I get my bike back tomorrow after my 1st service; didn't have any qs issues when it went in so we will see. Recall issues haven't been addressed but possible ECU update for heating issue.

Please keep us posted on how your bike is once you pick it up and get to ride it :)

Taken me about 20 days but I'm out of break in (around 1550 miles), haven't really had issues with the QS but I generally don't get held up in much traffic. There's a couple times it didn't really work as intended, but the times it did give me issues I'm pretty sure I didn't put enough pressure all the way through on the shift, or like others had mentioned slow traffic and with it rather hot sometimes it'll give you a jolt, but usually in traffic I am clutching anyway so I've only noticed it once or twice...

My bike has had it's first service and all recalls were done before initial pickup, just for reference.

Just picked up my bike from initial service; took it in at 675 miles never had any issues... haven't really done much but no issues after service.
They did do the ECU update through the warranty, even though I didn't ask for it :p but I was planning on doing all my warranty issues in 2 weeks so didn't mind. Not really hot enough to duplicate issues people have been talking about yet. Will keep you all posted after a week or so of really riding.

Also side note: initial service... 1.6 hours of labor and oil/filter/washer; mine cost me $302 at a different dealership than where I bought it because they wanted $400 lol. But the labor is less than the 2.5 hours for the 1299; even the big Desmo service is almost 3 hours less than the 1299. So even though it's still expensive, it's a heck of a lot less than the 1299 :p

From what I have read across multiple sites the DQS has been an issue for a bunch of Guys but after the first service it seems to have been fixed from what I can tell Ducati is not posting all recalls/updates and the majority of issues are being fixed at your first service. I contacted Ducati directly and asked for specific technical info on what the recalls/updates are for and what they affect. I got a response saying they are putting together the info and will let me know.... so until my first service im not touching the DQS if it acts up after that well....thats a different story

Took the bike to the track for a Sunday stroll after getting it back from the dealers after two weeks to sort EM light issue – some debris got stuck in the exhaust flapper valve!!!

Anyway, after about 10 minutes into the first session, the bike behaved strangely on corner entry – jerking and shunting forward when the throttle was fully closed and even though braking. The quickshifter stopped working intermittently, but came back eventually.

Feeling almost like the auto-blip is out of sync, with the down-shift being quite harsh, I re-calibrated the tyres to see if this would make any difference.

Next session was fine for 1 lap, and then same thing – a shuddering shunt into the corner – and again - no quickshifter this time for the whole session. Also, at the settings menu in the right bottom corner, an error would be displayed in red next to the DQS option.

I then unplugged and re-plugged QS connector a few times, disconnected battery to reset ECU, changed tyres and re-calibrated again, but the problem would re-occur within the first lap, only disappearing upon ignition switched off for a few minutes and switched on again.

I ended up riding old-school using the clutch the rest of the day. Bike is going in for a third time tomorrow :(

Very sorry for you, that is one major pain in the butt. Thank you for sharing, this is very useful information. I hope its gets 100% sorted out for you very soon.
We were riding along fairly briskly yesterday and quickly shifted from 6>5>4th.

When she hit 4th the engine suddenly INCREASED throttle.

Not quite what I was expecting going into a corner. 😳

Hmmm, .... work to be do here, methinks.

We now have 1785 kms on the bike.
Well, my V4S quickshifter just stopped working too. Bought the bike last week, it has less than 150 miles on the odo. As others have described it stops working usually after the bike heats up. I ride maybe 40-50 miles and it stops working. Also the mode (street/sport/race) starts blinking the whole time the QS isn't working.

Let the bike sit for 20 minutes or more and QS up/down starts working again. The mode stops flashing. Then after a short ride, it stops again.

All the recall work was done prior to me picking up the bike and the dealer said there arent any ECU updates. They said they couldn't replicate the problem because the bike sits for too long and when they ride it around the block it works fine... so this is going to be a super annoying problem. The bike is at the dealer now, but since the ecu isnt sending error codes (just glitchy with the blinking sport mode) I doubt anything can or will be done.

Sure, I could disable QS, but I really love it. So disappointing that this is the feature to break on my bike. When it works its super smooth at all RPM ranges. When it stops working, the bike feels like it won't let me shift even with a lot of pressure on the lever. I have to manually clutch and and the shift lever works again with the normal amount of pressure.

Anyone have updates on their bikes yet that have this problem?
