Hi, I am a new forum member and considering buying a new V4. I am OK with the cost of the bike itself but a bit put off by what my current insurance company (Progressive) wants to charge for the V4.

I currently own a 2014 Monster 1200 and a 2014 HD Softail and I pay $400/year for both. The quote I have from Progressive is just over $1,600/year for the V4 ALONE! This just seems ridiculous to me for a bike that will sit in a locked garage 6 out of 7 days.

I know insurance varies greatly based on zip code in the US but what are current owners doing? Are you paying these higher rates for the V4? Are you buying the bikes outright (no financing) and not insuring them? Some other solution I have not considered?

I appreciate you input!

I have foremost, I pay full coverage for about 1500 and can go as low as 1300, if i knock back some coverages.

I was quoted for 1200 by geico for the same coverages.

Difference is that I pay for the privilege of having Trackday Insurance for Foremost, friends thought I was an idiot for paying so high, until my incident happened. :(

Our insurance we wrapped all 5 bikes in one policy $178.00/Au/Month this includes a 2018 V4 "S" & 2018 Supersport "S" I consider it relatively cheap they are all in my name and fully covered.
Only stipulation was when home they have to be in a locked garage which they are but also have tremble alarmed 120Db disc locks.

Not sure what you chose; but yeah Progressive's quote system is messed up for 2018 1000cc bikes. You can put in any other 1000cc bike and you'll still get some ridiculous quote (well at least here in the DMV area, no matter what age and info you give). Last year was even worse; they finally updated their site but still gives something silly compared to any other site. I even spoke to an agent over the phone and they couldn't explain it; when I gave them the VIN for an actual quote the price jumped even higher.

You can get a realistic quote for the V4 on any other insurance carrier. I went w/ GEICO because they quoted me lowest and ended up moving all my bikes over too.
