when i do my oil changes i keep the oil level right at the max line or slightly below it. it only takes 3 quarts and about 4 ouncesHas anyone done an oil change ? I’m just learning now that it seems like the dealership that did my 500 mile service put too much oil in my bike . I’m going off of the sight glass on the side of the bike . Unless this bike is different the two lines on the sight glass is where the oil level should be. The bottom line being Min level and the top line being max where the oil level should be at when the bike has been sitting for a few hrs. I removed almost a quart of oil to get it down to the max level ... anyone look at the oil level on their bikes to see where it’s been sitting at cold ?
Jeez, you've been reading my mail. 😁when i do my oil changes i keep the oil level right at the max line or slightly below it. it only takes 3 quarts and about 4 ounces
I had a similar experience. My dealer never filled it back up correctly after the 600 mile service so I was driving around for a few thousand miles with too little oil . I figured it out after over filling it when I changed the oil myself afterwards .....Picked up my brand new V4 recently oil level low put in half a litre to top of two marks then took to another bike shop for first 600 service also a ducati dealer, when i leave it in my garage overnight have to take out half a litre of oil because of overfill. Can,t see how a dealer will get it right, (put in oil, start engine to fill filter then wait for hours so all oil drains in sump) surely they can get an exact amont for fill from ducati. Let oil drain for a couple hours don,t start engine put exact amount in and get customer to check before next ride?
FlashlightAnyone else besides me having difficulty reading the oil level? I find it very hard to see especially since the sight glass is partially obscured by the fairing.
According to the service manual oil capacity is 3.8L (maybe this means if the engine is completely dry of oil or disassembled)Jeez, you've been reading my mail. 😁
This bike takes a LONG time for the oil to drain to the sump, .... like overnight for an accurate reading.
And yes, about 3 quarts and two ounces for mine.
