Once you're in motion the heat should dissipate, but sitting in traffic it can get a bit hot around the thigh area. Not really an uncommon thing with Ducati and you can just wear an extra protective layer to deal with it.
This is one reason why i can't wait for Ducati to start on electric bikes, although those bikes won't have nearly as much character, little issues like this that can impact your riding experience will just go away.
Nah, it's fine and maybe some better aftermarket heat shields will come out later on. An odd jump to electric bikes from a bit of heat, though I've always wanted an electric scooted. But that is neither here nor there.
Apparently there's a recall for the heat problem. At least that's what I gathered from this Google translated site.
Apparently the new Ducati Panigale V4 would warm up in the under saddle area. This would have obliged the Ducati technicians to add two plastic protective bulkheads, not present on the models on display at EICMA.
I assume the new deliveries would have it fixed before the keys are handed over to owners. People who has already taken delivery will have to bring it in.
The big question is if it’s heating problem as the bike can overheat or is it heating problem as in if you are riding in shorts and flip flops you will burn...
If it’s the later one then there is no problem whatsoever
I think from what I've read that the heat issue is directly related to rider comfort and nothing in regards to bike performance. I've already seen people mentioning whether or not aftermarket heat shields would be available to buy. Definitely seems to be people fishing for problems.
We're essentially sitting on a motor and there's only so much they can do to make a V4 motor run cooler. Bringing this back up because summer if approaching for some fun times in the neither region.
Think there are now carbon pieces with heat shields now in the market for the V4 to help this problem. lieb-speed is one and I think Ilmberger may have something.
Keep in mind that I paid a healthy deposit and ordered this bike LAST OCTOBER.
To be fair, I specially asked for the full Akra system however the Akra delays are not the problem see below.
From my service manager yesterday:
"Sadly we will have to postpone your motorcycle pickup. There was just another technical bulletin just released to improve ducting / air flow characteristics of the cooling system. I have skimmed through the bulletin and we should defiantly have this complete prior to your motorcycle pickup. It includes new radiator ducting and a second coolant expansion bottle amongst other small improvements. I have this kit on order and will prioritize your motorcycle."
"The check is in the mail and yer gonna get a bonus at Christmas", is getting REALLY tiresome.
i just picked up my bike Saturday and i quickly noticed that it gets very warm when riding and definitely hot when in stop and go traffic. prior to pick up i ran vin for recalls and everything came back clean. no recalls issued for my particular vin. the bike has a built date of 04/18.not sure if any recalls after that build date.
either way i wanted to ask about this new carbon fiber heat shield by RSR that has come out for it. has anyone tried this? if so, how doe sit work compared to stock? does/or would it make a great difference in blocking some heat? can someone give some feedback on this? also interested in a pic or two? does the heat shield wrap around the exhaust piping near/under the seat or is it just a cover kind of like the stock heat shield?
Has anybody taken off the black insulation inside the bodywork? My local dealer told me this is eur4 noise control so the bike should run cooler with more airflow thru bodywork. On a hot day say 90f it cooks you alive even when rolling under 50:devil: mph
I feel like all these new emission regulations are really tying the hands of performance bike manufacturers. Has anyone done this mod to confirm that the bike runs cooler without?
From what I have heard, the valve is basically open most of the time anyway. The heat is off of the engine, not the exhaust. Its cooling itself and blasting that hot air onto the rider and everything else. Guys with the Akra's even say the heat is no different. All that heat energy from all this power needs to go somewhere.
That heat is why I stopped commuting to work and back every day, sitting in traffic is no fun. Rather save riding time for clearer local roads and highways where I have all the freedom. Don't know how some guys do it.
Still a nut roaster. Man that has got to really suck! I was hoping this problem would be fixed by now. Its the same reason I didn't buy a new Pani in 2017. Now I want one some bad I am willing to overlook the issue of getting my entire lower body smoked. LOL
I changed my sub frame to full carbon ones and stuck a whole bunch of heat reflectors. Helped quite a lot to disperse the heat.
