Hi fellow Ducatistis,
I took the plunge into the Ducati realm about two years ago last fall. The story unfolded something like this. I was absent from riding for awhile raising a family in the Toronto GTA (Mississauga/ Oakville area). Thinking about getting back into riding, I drafted a five bike short list:
BMW S1000RR
Ducati Panigale 899
Aprillia Tuono
MV Augusta Brutale Dragster 800RR
Ducati Monster 1200S
Really wanted the Beamer for all its features of comfort "for a sportsbike" but was lukewarm about purchasing a line-four engine, having previously owned a few plus a single and a triple. I was ready for a twin...especially the Panigale, sporting a narrow waistline akin to Monica Bellucci as opposed to Bavaria's Angela Merkel .
I was a bit concerned from the reviews about the 899's lack of bottom-end torque which is why it was in second place. The Tuono positioned mid-pack, had all the right stuff and as a hybrid between a racebike and a naked, it would be perfect as a "one-bike" ride. More on that later. The Brutale was considered for its drop-dead gorgeous appeal albeit with a smaller high revving engine. The 1200 S had a Badass look to it combined with the torque of a...Monster.
When the 959 Panigale with its lower end grunt replaced the outgoing 899, it became #1 on my list. Went to the Toronto bike show in January 2016 and purchased a white 2016 Panigale 959 shortly thereafter. Rode it all summer only to follow-up with a second Ducati purchase; a Black Monster 1200R. I'm still grinning from having sold my wife on the "But Honey, I need a sensible bike for riding with You" speech.
About myself:
As you know, i'm into Motorcycles, but also into Cycling, Seadoo's, Skiing and Diving and just about anything outdoors. We now live in Ottawa as Torontonian Ex-Pats but do miss our many friends in the GTA and the Great Lakes areas.
Now I'm enjoying riding my Ducati's on the road and driving our Wrangler Rubicon out back and often seen towing our seadoo's somewhere. The Panigale will be heading to the track next year where I'm looking forward to this new experience. Consequently, I'm now scouting for a new sportbike.
