I will offer a much more complete analysis later but I would like give you a few clips from emails sent to friends:

“Motorized crack cocaine” (text to my service manager at lunch)

I have flown/driven/ridden high performance machines all my life, but ….

…. this the most intensely emotional machine I ever experienced.

Now, … I have never done crack cocaine but it’s gotta be something like this.

I don't think I have ever felt more that I received better "value for money".

Etc, etc.
This is sort of how I felt. Glad you still picked it up, you had me on the fence but riding the thing always reminds you why you're after it. I think mine just arrived at the dealer yesterday so they are going to be prepping it next week.

I am 70 years old with Stage 4 prostate cancer. We still run in the top 5 of the A group. We run a 848>1040 (spare bike) and our 1199S as our main track bike - and now we have the V4.

Bin racing for 57 years.

Your call - but Mary Mother of Christ this girl is FAST.
My bike is a Speciale with Mg wheels at about $44k. Coolant system, fuel system, electronic failures, clutch problems, ABS issues.....I don't know, the last thing I want is a problem at speed. I still don't have any confirmation from my dealer. I only Track no street riding, so I'm thinking maybe an HP4 Race might be a better option, more reliable. You only live once right but the ducati is special and loved my 1199 on the track. The R comes out next year. I have no idea what the deal is but spending this kind of money with all these issues seems crazy but like you said "motorized crack" so maybe worth it.

I’m glad you picked up the bike. Even happier you like it. I have had mine for 2 weeks now and it is worth every penny. I cannot believe how nice this bike is, coming from my 848 it is a game changer and I loved that bike. The only thing that would make me dislike the bike would be a series of recalls but they were done before delivery. I have had the opportunity to ride just about every bike in Ducati’s lineup with the exception of the SL. This is the best bike they have made in the past 10 years.

Glad to hear you've finally taken delivery of the bike! Doesn't look like you're wasting any time racking up the mileage. Stoked to see that it was well worth the wait. A good alternative to hardcore narcotics to be sure.

It is a great machine, I will offer a more complete analysis later.

But it still sounds like a castrated donkey at stop lights. 😏
