Rubber-coated magnets make a very strong connection between the metal clip of a radar detector and the RAM magnetic mount:

https://www.kjmagnetics.com/products.asp?cat=164

I use these to make a nice mount directly on the tank of most of my bikes; however three of them (Aprillia RSV4 RF, S1000RR and the Speciale) don't have steel tanks. Each bike now has a separate solution though all still involve use of these magnets.

Quad Lock Mount works for me

Hi everyone - Brand new to the forum and new to getting a V4 (picked up my V4S just over a week ago).

One of the 1st things I did was to fit a phone mount. I already had a Quad lock mount for my other bike, so used that. Took a while to fit and get the positioning right as there is zero room on the clip-ons.

I found it fitted nicely on the top yoke with the right sized rubber (included with the quad lock). It's sits quite flat, but actually I've found it's perfect, doesn't obstruct the dash at all, not does it touch on full lock to lock. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ so it's a fairly big phone. See pics attached - hope it helps.

(For those of you who haven't used the quad lock mount before, I can highly recommend it.)

Still playing around with my setup. I had the RAM claw mount to attach the radar detector then the phone on top of the radar detector. That works but bounces around a bit. I already had a small SW Motech quick release tank bag, so am trying a velcro system on top of the tank bag combined with an eBay ignition GoPro mount and a go pro mount phone holder. It is much cleaner than my other install, but I will have to use if for awhile to see how I like it. Also had a "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" moment as I had to make an aluminum shim from a coke can to get the go pro mount to tighten enough The idea is to run the Escort Max 360 radar detector and have the escort app running on the phone with a bluetooth connection to the radar detector.

The RAM claw mount is barely large enough for the Escort 360, which is bulky. And I can't find a good mount point for the claw that doesn't interfere with the range of motion for the bars. So I'm still using the Uniden with Sena SM-10 to transmit to the helmet. Where are you getting power? I have a battery-tender SAE plug that won't work with SAE to USB converters. It only works with SAE to cigarette socket and that means using the supplied power cord for the detector. It's a bulky setup. Unlike on my other Ducatis (XDS, SuperSport S) there isn't an available power plug.

Hi Pannizzle, is that just the normal handlbar mount kit that you've latched onto that upper part of the triple clamp? Looks pretty good, going to give that a shot once you confirm, thanks!

Just what I was looking for! Thanks for reporting. Every other solution out there looks bulky for me. Ordered the quadlock. Hopefully I would be able to find the perfect spot on the clip-on.

I have the Rok Form fork tube mount. Position anyway you like. It is as reliable as the Clintons suicide program.

Has anyone here actually checked if their local PD have those radar detector detectors?
