Oil change

Hey guys, new to ducati. Is the oil change similar to the 1199/1299? Oil filter in front of oil pan behind oil cooler my down? Thanks guys!

Take it into the dealer if you can. I just finished after more than a few hours, and it was absolutely miserable. The dealer couldnít get me in for a month and a half, so I decided to do this on my own. There are three bolts that you undo to pull the cap to get to the filter. Thread three larger bolts into the cap an pull hard. It pops and dumps oil everywhere, swap the filter, o rings, install, and torque. Donít forget the plug washer.

There are recalls to do plus they can clear the service light. If you can take it into the dealer, do it.

I just completed a oil change on my speciale. It can indeed get messy but if your not in a rush, let the oil drain out completely and when removing the oil filter cover prepare for a "little" spillage but not too much.

Best to ensure the engine is a bit warm for easier drainage.

Well if you keep threading the larger bolts it slowly pulls the cap off.

I heard it can take up to 3 hours to get all the oil drained on the initial service.

draining the heads

Yep it takes 2 hrs to fully drain all the oil from the heads I know ive timed it for our race bike, so that is why the dealer allow3 /3.5 hrs warm up remove panels drain n refit all easy stuff any moron can do it.

I've seen it done that way on previous models and attempted that myself. I felt a lot of resistance on the bolts, and didn't see the cap working its way out. I pulled the bolts out and saw that they had a very small amount of material from the case on the threads. I wasn't willing to keep going. There's definitely a trick to this, but without a service manual or talking to someone that's been trained on it, it is a guessing game. Just letting you know what I did to get it done.

filter cap housing

I warmed mine with a heat gun n used a strap wrench n twsited it to one side then tapped gently on the 3 lugs,
Trick ON ASSEMBLY is smear the oring and plastic with[ rubber grease] ready for next time and it will come of easier .
