newbie hello

Hello,
Just done a 1000 miles on a V4 base anybody found the suspension to hard, tried an S before buying did not like the detached feeling, thought this bike would be nearer to what i want but is nearly unridalbe at speed backed off compression at the back and still to hard no static sag and im 195lbs, since service cannot access ride modes to modify any one else?

hello there...

At your weight I would think the suspension would be perfect... I ride an S so not sure about the suspension on the base, and the S needs a lot of setting up the suspension to get it right. As for the riding modes; I would definitely take it back for service since that just doesn't sound right.

Iím the same weight and have not found the suspension too hard. If anything, itís better than my 848 and it was set up by my mechanic for me. I have not change the factory settings.

I'm 72 kgs and find the rear suspension on the base V4 pretty brutal on rougher roads even after softening it to the max. I think it's a Panigale "attribute".

my mistake with the settings old age,but the ride qaulity is terrible on our country roads, it would be alright on smooth tarmac like a track but we are a third world country the way our roads are, i have a zx10r that has been revalved and changed the rear and it is superb im thinking of getting an ohlins shock but i ont want to spend that much money unless it completly changes it

Again don't know about the base model, but you'd have to change the comp/reb a bit for street. The S in Race mode comes super stiff for track, I had to adjust it for street... I reckon the base comes set up for the track too as default maybe. Also might have to give it some more miles for the suspension fluids to settle in or something, mine finally started to feel better last couple months, or you could change the fluids to a different viscosity I guess. I'm 175lbs and I can definitely use a different rear spring, even though they say it's for 185lbs rider it's a bit too stiff for me on some bumps as I can't compress down enough on it.

I know what you mean player snoopy, i was hoping it would improve with milage, but you should be able to set the static sag to a reasonable15 to 18mm but i have about 5mm with the adjustment on the spring as loose as it can go, i just wondered if anybody else had the same trouble. The fronts okay you can adjust that easily to get 25 to30mm static sag your just limited with the damping adjustment. To do anything with the rear looks like you have to take the exhaust tank and rear sub frame off not a 5 minute job. so do i replace the shock while iam at it. icarnt believe im the only one with ths problem.
